Wakefield, UK – Drawing on decades of family heritage in British bed making, Ammaar Seedat has launched a new independent venture: Yorkshire Handmade Beds -  a premium, direct-to-consumer brand focused on craftsmanship, comfort, and small-batch quality.

Ammaar grew up surrounded by the trade. His family has been at the heart of the UK bed manufacturing industry since 1979, playing a pioneering role in the development of specialist calico pocket springs and known for producing high-spec components trusted by leading names in the sector. He made his first mattresses as a child and has been refining the craft ever since.

Now, with Yorkshire Handmade Beds, Ammaar is stepping out on his own to bring that legacy directly to customers under a new name, one that reflects his personal values, vision, and dedication to doing things differently.

“This business is rooted in everything I’ve learned growing up, but it’s also a fresh start,” says Ammaar. “I wanted to take the knowledge and standards I’ve grown up with and build something of my own, with a clear focus on quality, transparency, and long-lasting comfort.”

Built in Wakefield and made entirely to order, Yorkshire Handmade Beds produces just 1,150 mattresses per year, embracing a small-batch model that ensures every mattress, bed base and headboard receives personal care and attention.
