YHB Mattress Care Guide
•After purchasing one of our premium natural mattress we highly recommend that you protect the mattress with a high quality mattress protector.
•Do not use a vacuum cleaner to pick up and small particles or fluff from your mattress as this can disturb the layers of natural fillings inside the mattress and could affect even settlement.
•Any liquids should be soaked up with a dry cloth. Do not scrub as this may damage the Belgian Viscose fabric.
•If at any time you need to store your mattress please make sure where possible it is stored flat or on its side. Do not leave stood upright or bend your mattress as this could damage both the springs and your natural fillings.
•Our mattresses have an anti-roll sleeping system enabled by firmer springs on the edges of the mattress. However we still do not recommend sitting on the edges of the bed for any period of time as this can put excessive pressure on a small area of springs.
•Avoid children jumping on the bed as again this can put excessive pressure on a small area of springs and will damage them.
•Your mattress contains the finest natural fillings and it is very important for these fillings to settle evenly. To make this happen we advise that you rotate and turn your mattress every week for the first 6 months and then every month thereafter.
FAQs
Why does my mattress feel firmer than the one I tried in the show room?
Your brand new mattress may feel somewhat firmer in comparison to a mattress
that has been on a shop floor for some time. This is due to the amount of customers
that have lied on the show room model thus beginning the settling process. The
settling process is when the natural fillings in your mattress begin to settle and
soften. We recommend that this can take between 4 – 6 weeks, in some cases
slightly longer but in time you will notice your mattress becoming less firm.
Why is it so important to rotate and turn my mattress?
Your mattress is filled with the finest natural fillings and will settle in accordance
with your body and will compress more where your body applies the most pressure.
To help the fillings recover in these areas and increase the longevity of your mattress regular turning and rotating is what we recommend. Please see our Mattress Turn
Guide.
How long will my mattress last?
Everything in your mattress from the wire in the spring to the luxurious natural fillings are of the finest quality.
Provided you care for your mattress as we have advised you to do then you will enjoy many years of the most comfortable sleep.
Can I use my new yorkshire handmade beds mattress on my existing divan base?
If you're placing your new mattress on your existing base, it's essential to ensure
the base is in good condition. The mattress will contour to the shape of the base, just as it adapts to your body.
Therefore, we recommend replacing an old base. Any damage to the base could have a negative affect on the longevity of your mattress.
Can I use my new yorkshire handmade beds mattress on a slatted bedstead?
The gaps in between each slat offers no support to the natural fillings in your mattress. Therefore we recommend that the gaps are not wider than 3 inches
(7.5cm).
